I hope to make these instructive helpful interesting and while each week sees an in stallment of these "boy talks" yet each is in itself complete. The boy is the little man the future citizen, therefore he should learn now to prepare him self for the future. Let him have an ideal let him follow out a plan let him learn to do his own thinking. By doing this he is taking his first step in citizen ship. The boy must first learn to have an independent atmosphere. To depend on himself to be his own thought maker. It makes no difference where he was raised, what education or money his par ents may have the boy must build for himself must think for himself must place be fore himself a life work and build his plans around it. The average boy thinks he should do as the other boys do. He must learn not to be depend ent on his friends. He must de pend on himself. The line of least resistnnce is not alway the best line to follow. It is best to have a plan and itay with it hang on as tenaciously as a bull dog does to any object it maj attact. There i3 an inner monitor an intuition that tell3 each boy what is best what is right what is wise and what is good. The boy should lt this inner self talk to him. He should listen to its ad vice. If you will itop each day and for ten minutes let your mind dwell on what is beit for you thinking only of the good and true in life you will build character faster than you can imagine. You will place your self in a position to grow and develop. There is too much literature published that has no purpose nor plan but is made to fire the imagination. This literature is illustrated with highly colored pictures and is thrown on the market for the boy to read. The boy hungering for something be sides his school books reads one of these wild, wierd stories and his imagination pictures the story real. He wants more of the same literature and gets it. Why is there not more good books for boys books that are interesting but that have a moral that is good. The boy's mind is free to take a good lesson as well as a bad one why not give him the good? We believe in developing a successful man out of every boy and the way to do this is to help him choose the best in literature, the best in sport, the best in as sociations and soon he of his own volution he gathers to himself the thoughts that develop a sort of a second sight becomes his if you wish to call it so. Then this is the first idea in boy develop ment, Learn to think for your self. Stop and meditate for a few minutes each day. Choose only good literature and have a purpose an aim in life.
