F. C. VV. R. R. and in a cozy nook overlooking the beautiful W i 1 1 a m e tte river and with a little capital invested could be made one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon. Its principal in dustry is hop raising There is very little grain farming done in the imme diate vicinity of Eola as the greater portion of the land adjacent to the town is quite hilly and as it is cleared it is being set to fruit and as the hills protect us from the cold north winds in the spring and winter makes an ideal place for the culture o-l fruit. Mr. B. T. Fergrwon who owns one of the finest cherry orchards in th" state of Oregon has i the last 9 years had bis crop dam aged by cold weather but once and that was March 1909 when we had an ext"a cold spring. Considerable prop erty has changed hands here in the last year and lmr rove ments of various kinds taken place, Mr. Thoa. Holman who has b"g property holdings here has modernized his own home here and also improved some of his tenement houses W. D. Magee purchased property here about a year ago and has increased the value of his place considt rable by the improvements he made. H. 1 Landon pur chased about 25 acres of bot tom lad partly cleared which be intends to set to berries possibly logan. B. I. Ferguson who owns a tract of 10 acres devotes his time to f r u i t and poultry He has an apiary of about 30 standsTof btes from which he derives quite an income and which he thinke is also re sponsible for the splendid ,fruit crops be has every year as the bees do the work of properly pollenizing the blos BOtns. Mrs. M. E. Stansberry re- timed Friday from a few weeks trip to Enstern Oregon points, and while absent visited her son, J. E. Stans berry and daughter, Mrs. L. II. Hankey of Pendleton, and stated that they enjoyed tending the Monitor, which h a weekly visitor at her sons in Pendleton.
