Some time ago we told you that you had better get a Clark Jewel Oil Stove. Some of you did and some of you didn’t. Those who did are having a nice cool time in the kitchen these many sultry warm days— cooking is a pleasure— and those who didn’t are either smoth ering over a hot cook stove, starv ing the family or eating out of a cart. One day this week Henry McElmurry severed the" ar teries of his wrist while fooling with a mower and now has a vacation in the farm er’s very busy season. The Hewitt clan held a family reunion near Stayton a few days ago. There were eighty five relatives present including Dr. L. L. Hewitt and family, formerly of this city. Mrs. (x. W. Conkey in company with her mother, Airs. McDevitt of Dallas, and Air. and Mrs. P. H. Drexler, w-ent to Bar View last Alomlay where they enjoy the cool sea breezes for some time. Sargeant Fred Aluhleman returned from the war zone Monday and is glad to get back. His brother, Sam, is ex pected at any time as it is thought he is now on the seas headed for New York city. The Civic Club provided sandwiches and lemonade for the boys of Co. K after their regular drill last Friday night.
