Watson and wife went down to the county seat this morning. —Mrs. D. L. Rice and children re turned to Ashland from Portland Fri day. —J. A. Gross and wife, of the depot hotel, left on Friday’s train for San Francisco. —Dr. C. W. Barr left Saturday for Marion county, his old home, wheie he will spend some time on a visit. —Chas. Lindsay returned Monday from British Columbia, after remaining a few weeks in that country. —Dunsmuir (Cal.) Herald: Miss How- land, of Ashland, is here on a visit to her sister, Mrs. J. II. Turner. —Mrs. H. M. Hicks left Monday for the Hicks mine in the Cotto iw < km 1 min ing district, California, where Mr. Hicks is engaged in mining. —D. Ray Matthews returned las Thursday evening from Redding, Cal. where he had been fur a few days, taking the civil service examination. —J. DeWitt Butts, formerly of this place, but now a New Yorker, has been' in Ashland the past week. He left on Sunday’s train to return to New York. —Miss Belle Ross, of Ashland, has opened a summer term of school in the Cedar Park district, near Edgewood, in this county.—Dunsmuir (Cal.) News. —W. W. Peed left last Friday evening for Portland. He has accepted a posi- tion with the S. P. R. K. Co. in civil engineering with the company’s regular force. —Isaac Moore and wife, of Shake, Klamath countv, came over to Ashland last Friday. Mrs. Mooie will remain here a couple of weeks for medical treat ment. —Miss Lora Colton arrived in the Falls Friday from Ashland and left Sun day for Hood river, where she took charge of the school which opened there last Monday week.—Klamath Republic an. —The Medford Mail: Abe Bish, of this place, who has been attending the normal school at Ashland, will next week commence teaching school in the Laurel district ou Rogue river. —J. E. Pelton,Geo. Norton, Geo. Har- gadine, L. Neil, and two others left yesterday for a trip through the country around Crescent City to gather up a herd of cattle purchased by l’elton & Neil, of this place. —Mis. G.S.
