Hellman is home from Graves creek. —Max Pracht came down from Port land yesterday. —Miss Ester Silsby went down to Medford last evening. —J. A. McCall returned home from Graves creek last Friday. —R. G. Smith, of Grant’s Pass, paid Ashland a visit last Friday. —Miss Irene Chitwood, of Medford, is visiting friends and relatives in Ash land. —J. K. Lealo, of Trail, arrived in Ash land last Saturday and is spending a few day8 here. —Mrs. W. H. Ledgerwood returned home Saturday from a visit in the Wil lamette valley. —George Crowson went down to Med ford last evenieg, on a business trip, re turning to-day. —E. A. Hildreth, Sr., came home last evening from Grouse creek, where he has been sporting. —J. K. VanSant made a trip to Coles last Wednesday returning home on Thursday evening’s train. —J. A. Gavitt and family left for Med ford on last evening’s train, to reside in that city during the winter. —Mrs. Huitz, of Phcenix, who has been spending a few days in Ashland, returned home last evening. —S. J. Stcrmer arrived here yesterday from Denver, Colorado, where he has been residing for the past year. —Grant Rawlins, of Medford, who has been in Ashland for the past few days, returned home yesterday. —Mrs. Parker, mother of Mrs. Ray Sarhwell, of this place, arrived in Ash land last Sunday from Parker’s station for a visit. —H. Wells, of Shasta valley, came over to Ashland last week with his son to give him the advantage of the Ash land schools. —Cliff Payne returned home Thurs day from Montague, Cal., where he had been for a few days, combining business with pleasure. —Miss Effie Wright, of Central Point, who has been staying in Ashland for some time, returned to her home Mon day afternoon. —Mr. and Mrg. Mardin, of Igerna, Cal., arrived in Ashland on Tuesday evening’s train, and will spend the win ter in this place. —J. W. Hammaker,of Klamath Falls, passed through Ashland on Monday’s train on his return from the northern part of the state. "7’ —D. D. At a special meeting of the directors of Bellview school district No. 73 last Saturday, L. Stewart was chosen to fill the vacancy in the school board occasioned by the resignation of Ash bury Anderson. The Ashland city election will be held December 15, two weeks from next Tuesday. There are four prospective candidates for city marshal; C. P. Jones, J. W. O. Gregory, J. P. Savle and Geo. Engle. Winter has put in its appearence in this section of the country. A light snow fell last Monday night, completely covering the ground. Tuesday night more snow fell. Don’t forget the Schubert Svmphony Club and Lady Quartette in the opera house tomorrow (Thursday) evening. The entertainment will be given under the auspices of the local K. P. lodge. The troupe comes highly recommended, and a good concert is assured. The “Old Folks’ Concert” in Ganiard’s opera house last Saturday evening was an enjoyable affair, although not largely attended. The old people w’ere earnest in their endeavors to bring back the “bright days from out the dreamy past” and were successful to a notable degree, pleasing the audience greatly.
