Council, and on motion of C. H. Vau-
pel, seconded bv D. F. Fox, was accept­
ed, ami he was instructed to d?posit
with the City Recorder any Ixjoks and

the City; also to turn over any such
tools ami implements to the Street Com­
mittee.

Normal School Notes.
Three girls and two boys have been
settled in good places to work for their
board. One more place is needed for a
girl.
Mr. Sayles, the news stand and candv
man, has sjiecially favored the Normal
by the donation of the Daily Oregonian
for the library and reading room. Next!
The Normal bus will leave Winter’s
corner next Monday morning at 8:30
and return at 11:30; so it is not neces­
sary for students boarding in town to
take < I inner along the first day.
The treasurer of the Board will lie at
the building the forenoon Monday to re­
ceipt for tuition. The students will have
the afternoon to buy their books.
The bus fart* is 21., cents each way or 5
cents round trip. Tickets for two weeks
or a month can be purchased of Mr.
. Newton, the driver.
M ore than half of the newspapers in
which the Normal advertisements ap­
pear are contributed to the reading room
for the year. The others will be freely
given as soon as asked for.
Prof. Miles, Miss Ada Thomas, Miss
Fielder, and a large number of students
will arrive Saturday * from the north.
Miss Wesela and the Gardiner stu­
dents will arrive Friday.

—The family of R. T. Melius returned
home Saturday from a two weeks’ out­

Creek last Wednesday.

—Rev. E. P. Childs went to Jackson­
ville on last evening’s train, to attend
the County S. S. Convention in session
at that place.
—Homer Loucks, son of J. D. Loucks,
of this place, will attend the State Uni­
versity at Eugene this year. He will
leave for school next Sunday.
