He came down in the interest of some’ Port land capitalists, to look at some mines near Ashland. —Jack Bailey, of Gold Hill and for merly of Ashland, is dangerously ill from the effects of eating nuts of the sugar- {)ine tree. He is supposed to have swal- owed some of the shucks, which are poisonous. Put off a Southern Pacific Train. The passengers on a Southern Pacific train a few days ago tell of a disgraceful scene that occurred in one of the cars, near Albany. The conductor, H. T. Streit, being too eager to merit the paltry reward of five dollars, offered by the R. R. Company for the discovery of each scalped ticket, accused S.
