from a three weeks' vacation in the

says that bear and deer will hereafter
be very scarce in that locality.

been on a 'rip to Seattle mid Alaska
since sclliur their home here, have re
turned to the valley and will reside in
Medford the coming winter.
John Ross and George Ford are
back from a hunting trip on Elk creek
Two deer was the extent of their hag
on account of the hot. dry weather
which prevailed during their trip. A
good time, however.
Mr. Monisniith, wife and sou of
Fairfield, Neb., were here for a few
rays last week, the guests'of A. Balis
end family, former Nebraska neigh
bors. They were looking over the
i alley with a view to becoming per
B'anent residents and were well pleas
ed They went from here to Seattle
to visit th fair on their homeward
trip.
Work was started Monday morning
at moving the old postoffice building
to the rear of the lot to make room
for the new brick structure which is
to take its place. The new building
i.ill be 271x50 feet and will be de
sist ed especially for postoffice pur
. poses. Elmer Childers has the con
trcct for construction.
. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Jeffers and
Rev., and Mrs. K. IL Sickafoose re
turned Tuesday from a pleasant out
ing at the Jeffers ranch near Butte
Falls during whic hthey made various
excursions in. the mountains in quest i
of bedr. deer,, trout and huckleber
ries. They report having had a most
enjoyable trip.
A. L. Aikins of this place and
Frank Dickey of Ashland returned
Thursday evening from a hunting trip
on Elk creek, where they each suc
ceeded in landing a fat buck and
enjoyed the delights of camp life for
eight or ten days. Mr. Aikins says
.the trout fishing on upper Elk creek
is poor because of o dam which the
hatchery people have built across the-
month of the creek, which' prevents
any fish from going up the creek.
J. O. Isaacson and party returned
from their ramping trip last Friday
evening and report having had a most
enjoyable time. They camped on the
south fork of Rogue river, about 16
. miles northeast from Butte Falls and
had a delightful camping place. The
fishing was good and whilo in camp
the parti," caught all they wanted. It
is Mr. Isaacson's belief, however, that
the deer were lint fat and for that
reason, if for no other, they refrained
from killing any of the beautiful
creatures. Mr. Isaacson was greatly
benefited by the trip and took on
many pounds of flesh and tan while
away.
Kev. and Mrs. P. A. Brilol have
gone to Eugene for a couple of weeks
to visit with friends, and will attend
the annual conference of the M. E.
church, which meets this year at Cot
tage Grove. It is probable that Mr.
Bristol will receive assignment to an
other field of labor at the conference,
in which case they will not return" to
Central Point. Mr. and Mrs. Bristol
have many friends in this city, not
only among the membership of the M.
E. church, of which he has been pas
tor for two years, but also among the
people generally.
