NEW TRAIN SERVICE IS IN Shasta Limited Passed Through Med ford Monday Morning on Time to a Dot. Train No. 12, ihe Slmsta Limited. pa sod through Medford north on her first regular trip Monday morning, and Judge V. M. Crowell of the First National bank was tin first Medford passenger to take advantage of the new .-ervice. The train was on time to the minute. The new schedule is as folm: Northbound. Train No. 0 does not connect at Roseburg with trains going north, and jNo, If runs only to Ashland. Shasta limited, Nos. 11 and 12, are not intended for local travel and parties hoarding same must apply for reservations in advance. , But little baggage will go forward by this train. Baggage will follow. For local points passengers should lake trains 10, 12. 15 and Ui. Hoing north, the Portland express makes only the larger town stops. No. 13, however, makes the usual stops. During the past neven days mat ters of much importance to Wood ville und other placer mining dis tricts occurred, when a party of men inspected and bonded some rich placer ground about 12 miles up Evans creek for the sum of $80,000. The proposed purchase, if consum mated, will mean the erection of one or more dredgers by men who have been operating dredgers for a num ber of years in California for them selves and for some of the largest financial interests that have backed dredging operations in one of Cali fornia's greatest dredging areas, This is not preliminary to an offer f stock to cover operations in the erection of the necessary machinery; these men will not need outside fi nancial nssn-lnuee. Bonds Are Voted. At a special school election in Woodville. held on the I!th iust.. a vote was taken on the jpiestion of issuing bonds in the Mini of $15,000 for the purpose of creeling and equipping a two-.-tory brick school-hoie-e. The making of the brick for the new sehoolhouse is going steadily ahead with a full crew of men at the Ifortou brick yard, about one mile from town. , The Kntipp sawmill, wliieh has the contract fr furnishing Ihe wood work Cnr the Wnndville school build ing, has heen shipping material the past week for a similar huihling at Myrtle Creek. The committee of citizens which guaranteed the .$2000 required by the county court to be donated at this point in the erection of the new steel bridge across Kogue river, in re ceiving substantial bilcking by the signatures and subscriptions of the villagers: Mr. Cone of the box factory was in town Saturday arranging for the site for his new building.
