PORTLAND, Ore., June Fes tivity' has marked the past week in Portland. Business cares have been relegated and all have given them selves up In the enjoyment of the spectacles and uncial funotions of the Rose Festival. There have been reunions and reunions, visitors from every part of the country, and con enlions and gatherings of all sorts without end. What with viewing the parades, the rose show, attending va rious gatherings and entertaining their out of town guests, Portland people have put in n husy woek nnd .ive content tn rest after the six dnvs of merry making. When the festival closed Satnr- lay night in a blaze of glory, it was j pronounced the most successful af- i fair of the kind ever held on the Pacific const. The pageants of the week were magnificent nnd brought exclamations of surprise from east ern visitors who were unused to such 1 gorgeous displays of floral wealth. During the past week the Proshy-j torinn Itrolherhood convention was held in Portland, the county commis-l sioners and judge? of the stale at the Commercial club, the Oregon Pioneer association held its annual reunion, officials of the Seattle fair visited the festival. Scottish Rile Masons held a reunion and initiation, ( mengo Ioimuoss men came to the festival by .special train and were en- ti.rlained by the Commercial club nnd Hose Festival, Admiral T.jiehi and bis staff of Japanese naval officers were festival guests. French Ambas sador Jusscrnnd was a festival vis itor, besides innumerable less im portant happenings during the week marked a period of unusual activity.
