post hall, foot of Seventh street, at

house, where the following program will
be carried out. Called to order by post
commander, F. M. Stewart:

Christian i-hureli; opening prayer, He v.
W. F. Shields; reading of orders and
Lincoln's address at Gettysburg, Post
Adjutant D. K. Andrews; song, choir
Christina church; eoiuamnder 's address
ami saluting our dead, by comrades;
song, "The Faded Coat of Blue," quar
tet; quartet, ladies; address, Professor
B. F. Mulkey; song. "Memoriul Day,"
quartet; solo, F. G. Metz; song, " Amer
ica, " q uartet and audience.
Recess until p. m., at which
time parade will form at foot of hill in
I. O. O. F. cemetery and inarch to the
graves of comrades, around which post
and corps will form and the ritual serv
ices of the order gone through with,
after which post wil proceedin in a body
and scatter fowers as a oving tribute
upon the graves of our departed com
rades, Ex-Confederates, Mexican and Span
ish war veterans and sons of veterans
are cordially invited to, moot and par
ticipate with us in these exercises. It

and especially the public schools of the
city, meet and participate with us upon
this Memorial day. Let not the graves

Charley Edmonson and Dick Steppe

former will soon open a butcher shoo
at the Falls.
The electric road survey comes down
near Browiisboro uud from theme cuu
tinues to Eagle Point.
The bad weather of the. par week
has "jarred" the nerves of some of
our citizens, as two of them came near
a collision, but better counsels prevail
ed. It will be found the better prac
tiee to strictly attend to one's own
busiues sand not obnoxiously "butt
into" other's matters.
J. P. Hughes, merchant of Butte
Falls, drove to Medford Friday to se
cure supplies for store and new build
ing.
W. H. Moore of Medford drove a par
ly of three to the Falls ou u business
trip.
C. V. Skein, land atornev of the
Southern Pacific railroad, was exam
ining the lands of the railroad here
abouts during the past week, and while
here visited the unsurveved section and
said that this tract would be surveyed
July 1. He does not take a very hope
ful view of conditions and evidently
is out to look over the land nnd report
to the railroad company so it may be
prepared to scrip the land. The home
steaders should look after their rights.

Mr. Wilson of the unsurveved lauds
has gone on a visit to Medford.
Frank Xiel has gone to Medford on
business. He reports that the roads
are getting some better,
Emit Pech, late of Little Butte, vis
ited Butte Falls lately with a view of
opening a business store. He was very
favorably impressed with the town and
particularly with the splendid water
power of the owners of the townsite.
The Iowa lumber enmp has about ten
acres of timber cut and are about to
saw the logs into lumber and store the
same upon the camp grounds awaiting
transportation out.
Butto Falls Lumber company is turn
ing out some fine finishii g lumber and
have the shingle mill in operation.
Tho Medford Commercial club should
push the railroad interests to tho Falls
if Medford expects to reach a popula
tion of 25,000. The railroad will do it.
