HUNT LEWIS' HOME
LOOTED BY BURGLARS
Ti
Purglars are reaping a rich harvest
in the residence districts of Portland,
and the efforts of the police to put an i
end to the depredations of the thieves
are without result. One of the recent
crimes committed in this line was the
looting of the dwelling of Hunt Lewis
at S!l North Nineteenth street.
The burglary was committed Sunday
evening between the hours of ! and 10
o'clock, during the temporary absence
of th'' family from the house. Although
the neighborhood is thickly populated,
the thieves forced an entrance to the
house without attracting attention to
their movements. Once inside they ran
sacked the rooms at their leisure, over
hauling the contents of closets, bureaus
an desks in their search for valuables.
In one of the sleeping apartments the
thieves ft ni ml two scarf pins, Tn nn
ot her room was found a revolver be
longing to a member of the household.
These articles the thieves appropriated,
they being of the total value of about
!foll.
The burglars left the house in the
imiing of Gorton 's Minstrels
to the Medford opera house Monday,
January L'7, insures to its patrons u
tine entertainment, with ome of the
best special attractions ever seen on
the minstrel stage. The program has
been arranger! to meet the approval of
all who appreciate a bright, breezy per
formance, with something worth while
doing all flu time. The singers, com
edians ami expert specialists engaged
with this company are 1 nders in their
various lines and the best that can be
procured. If one may judge by hear-;
say. the cut ire performance is just i
about the best that ever happened, and
(iortou 's company has come to be '
known as the show that "always makes
good.' Hon 't miss the fine street pa-j
rade ami concert nt noon.

some of the press criticisms:

In tljo space between the rows of walnut

walnuts have been so satisfactory that
Mr. Stump's venture is not looked upon
as an experiment, but as an investment
that is sure to bring rich reward. Others
are planning to set out large tracts in

few years, as the land is said to be es

Tlu. Kojiuo Hivor Land Company has always contended that
thoro is no good reason why tho ri-al estate business cannot be
earned un honorably nnd honestly, with due regard for the rights
of both juirehaser nnd landowner. Aotuated by this opinion, the
company has never yet misrepresented as to the character of the
soil or the quality of the fruits produced on same, with the result
that all who have bought orchards through this agency so far
could sell nut, if desirable, at nn advance of 1(1(1 to 5i0 per cent
above the purchase price. This is a history of which we arc
proud, and we shall continue along the same lines in the future.
Men who come into this favored valley looking for a new plnce
of abode arc entitled to fair treatment. We only ask of tlicm
that they will exer.-is.- ordinary bminrss sagacity in investigating
the resources of the valley before buying.
There are three things the average investor wants, if he buys
country property in this valley. First and foremost, he wants a
home wnere he and his family ran enjoy good health nnd the fruits
of this section, rsually he wants to get located where he is within
easy reach nf the Lading commercial centers and close to local
markets. And lie always wants property which will bring in a
H"od i mi' and is sure to n.lvance in value as the valley develops.
