SOUTHERN PACIFIC'S
NEW DIVISION POINT
The Hon thorn Pacific company has
established a new freight division at
llornhrook. Owing to the Oregon law
recently passed limiting the working
hours of railroad men, it has been found
impoxpihle to make the run from Duns
muir to Ashland within the time limit,
and it was deemed advisable to give
the men a rest at some point this side
of the Siskiyou, liornbrook having
the bent facilities it whs made the stop
ping place, thus giving Siskiyou coun
ty two division points on the Southern
Pacific. The order was to have gone
into effect on January 1.

don't buy these gold bonds. They are
j not a speculation. They nre un invobt-ment.
These gold bonds will not muko van
rich, but they will give you n good
turn upon tho money invested. You will
not put in a dollar expecting to get out
ten dollars, for you won't do it. But
you can put in your dollar and be sure
of getting it out ngam with good inter
cut also.
Again, these gold bonds beat any
scheme of hiding coin in tin boxen or
stowing it away in safety deposits
vaults. It keeps the money in circula
tion and helps make times better, as
well as encouraging a praiseworthy en
terprise.
It is to the investing, not the specu
lating public that these bonds are of
fered. The best financiers in the city
recommend them.
The Paper's Future.
I A grent future, lies before this coun
try, and before this newspaper. The
property is built upon business lines
and run upon business principles. Its
policy is progressive, forceful and in
dependent. Its manager has had many
years' experience in practical newspa
per work. The newspaper properties
owned are bound to lie great news
papers, because they represent the
whole people and standing for tho peo
ple, will lie supported by tho people.
Tho daily has grown wonderfully since
tho present mnnnger took charge. He
found a bankrupt institution with noth
ing but debts, ill-will and prepaid circu
lation. It was out of favor with the
public and with the advertiser. Look
at its columns today. It is in favor
with both the public and the advertiser.
The change has been wrought with but
little money, in a very short spaco of
time. A still greater change will be
wrought In tho next few months.

Begin the New Year
IN THE RIGHT WAY
By Building
A good start means much to you. Get off on the right
foot and keep going. Don't continue to throw money
away by paying rent, when you can own your own home.
How much did you pay out for rent during 1907 ? Stop
and figure it out. "What have you got to show for it?
Nothing but a bunch of receipts. Suppose you had put
this money into building a home and buying a lot? You'd
have something to show for your coin, wouldn't you ? The
same thing holds true in the coming year. Are you going
to waste your mazuma all year, and have 1908 net you noth
ing but a living? Ask your wife about it, and see what
she says.
Building is going to be cheaper this year than ever.
You can buy practically at your own terms. We sell all
kinds of lumber everything needed in any kind of a
house from a small cabin to a palatial mansion. We also
sell Ijootli-Kcllv lumber.
