days of naval pageantry and merry

Congress Breaks Its Record.
Washington The present session
of congress, to end this week. Is a
record breaker. The appropriations
of this session so far authorised ex
ceed those of the first session of the
59th congress by more than $300,
000,000. The total appropriations
made up to this time aggregate ap
proximately $354,844,807. This
amount will be Increased by the gen
eral deficiency and omnibus public
buildings bills and such other meas
ures as may go through before ad

Million-ltolhtr Fire Loss at Omaha.
South Omaha, May 17. The Oma
ha Packing Company's plant here
was destroyed by fire early this
morning and a loss of $1,250,000 in
flicted. The flames spread to the
plant of the Cudahy Packing Co. and
a five-story building belonging to
this concern, with a large amount of
meat, waa also destroyed, the loss
being probably $200,000. Five fire
men were buried under a falling
wall, but were rescued. AH were
seriously Injured.
