No new cases of em-tllpox have devel oped in the pa-t three weeks, and as tho patients previously men tioned have recovered, it is thought that the town t is safely out of danger. Rev. V. G. Smiih nnd wife and daughter arrived in Khmath Fnlle bunday from Pennsylvania. Kev. Smith, who came here to accvpi the pastorate of the Presbyterian church, ie recently from Lima, Ohio, where he Berved for ten years as pastor of the Main street Pres byterian church. Floyd Farrar for the consider ation of $2,000 has sold to J as. C. Mongold his lot, comprising a half block, and located on Seventh and Main streets. This property cost Mr. Farrar five or six years ago something like $1, 200, and the price he ha iust received for it is evidence of the town s well-uoing Mr. Mongold is a Knight of the razor and will eng'ige in the barber business here. Mr. and Mrs. Farrar anticipate moving to Calif ornia. . Jos. Moore, came in Saturday afternoon from Poiegama with a lead of freight for Baldwin's hardware store. This was the first load of freight hauled from the new railroad terminus.. Mr. Moore stated that as soon as the new branch wagoi road is completed, freighting will be like a pleasure trip as compared to the old route to Ager. There are no hilla to climb in coming this way, and only one of any consequence in going, and besides, it is only about half the distance. V. T. Buteher returned this week from Merrill where for several days he was engaged at surveying tor the purpose ot ascertaining for the farmers of the locality west of Lost river the number of acres under the Van Brimmer ditoh that can be irrigated, such number of acres being required to determine the amount to be paid tor the ditch, negotiations being under way for its purchase by the farmers ands it will irrigate. Lney, in cluding Mr. Van Brimmer the present owner of the ditoh, will incorporate into a slock company. Five dollars per irrigated acre will be the price paid for the water wav with three yers in which to make settlement. Somewhere between ,000 and 5,000 acres, it is esti mated, will be the amount of laud that will figure in the contract papers. The ditch, being but a few miles in length and without flumes, can be kept in good condi tion at little expense, and the cost of irrigation under it will be less than 50 cents per acre. The com pany will contribute $3,000 to the expense that will be incurred in cutting a canal from White lake through the tule sod to Ltttlo Klamath lake This cut will keep White, lake filled with water, y f1Tl?riTTr. There will be no jury trials in Lake county for the May term of court.
