Killed by Freight Train.
A young man, about seventeen years
of age, and unknown, was ri'.n over
about a mile this side of Talent Ttiurs
day morning about 2 o'clock by an extra
southbound freight train. The man
was supposed to be a hobo stealing a
ride on the freight. His head was cut
off and his body was badly mangled.
Coroner Picket went to Talent and had
the remains brought to Medford where
an inquest was held Thursday afternoon

the World, and with the members of
the local camp and their wives and

opened by a selection by a male quar
tet composed of Messrs. K. E. Gore, W.
J. Mahonoy, Carl Webb and E. F.
Wluklor, concerning the reudltiou of

heard. C. P, Snull, chief consul of
Medford camp, then dulivered a short
introductory address a very eloquent
and graceful effort. Tho quartet fol
lowed with another tuneful seleotlou.

best and most convincing which has
ever been delivered in Meuford, and
demonstrated the benefit of .rnternitv
aud frateruul organizations In a man
ner which left no room for argument.
Mr. Falkenburg has full control of his
subject and his worda carried thu weight
nd conviction that only truly earnest
utterances can.
M. F. Parker acted as chairman u( the
meeting, and Introduced the speakers
with the dignity and urbanity for which
he is justly famous.
After the conclusion of Mr. Falken-
burg's address the Woodmen and their
wives adjourned to the banquet hall,
here a bountiful spread bad been pre
pared by members of Chrysanthemum
Circle, Women of Woodcraft, to which
full justice was done by the banqueters
Some time was spent In social converse
and the discussion of the appetizing
viands placed before them, when the
gatberiug broke tip and all wended
their way homeward, with a lively re
membrance, which it will take no Utile
length of lime to eradicate, of the pleas
ant ana instructive evening they hud
enjoyed.
