Dunlap, of Phoenix, visited Dr. Darrin Saturday for treatment for deafness but wa3 informed by the doctor he could not be relieved. I E. E. Crandail, instructor in science and mathematics In the high school at Ogdeo, Utah, arrived in Medford last Friday, lie is tbe son of Rev. and Mrs. Crandail, and will spend the greater part of his vacation with them. Attorney A. S. Hammond returned this week from a visit with Mrs. Ham mond at Altrura, Calif. He also visited San Francisco. "Mrs. Hammond, whose health Is Improving rapidly, will remain at Altrura for a few weeks yet. Griswold's Uncle Tom's Cabin Corn pang will show In this city today (Fri day.) It carrjes a fine band, and a car load of scenery tor a special spectecular presentation of this well known drama. The production of the drama will be under a large tent or water proof pa villion. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kurtz went to Portland Tuesday evening. Mrs. Kurtz, wboao health has been very poorly fur several weeks, will enter one of tbe hospitals at that place for medical treatmeot, and her many friends in this city will hope for her speedy reit eration to health. A largo vacant tenement house was burned at Roaeburg Salurduy night. It was plainly of incendiary origin, as the lire hose bad been cut In several places while on the hose cart. Much indignation among the citizens of Roseburg was manifest, and threats of lynching the guilty parly, if caught were heard. Mr, and Mrs. John Wright, of Central Point, will leave next week for a three months' visit with relatives and old time friends at Frankford, Kansas These people have been residents of the valley since '74 and none there are who have better earned this vacation than tbey.
