Says a St. Paul, Minn., telegram of March 21: The home-seekers' half-fare rate on the transconti nental lines went into effect today and the Northern Pacific and the Great Northern- were compelled to double their facilities in order to handle the crowds. ."Tot less than 5000 people took advantage of the low rates, and the Great Northern sent out. an . extra train at noon, while the Northern Pacific was com pelled to add a second section to its through trains.
