In the London newspaperj tho un;rr.-.te-ful

The man was defendant in a civil action
Involving tho payment of money nnd

people had to work harder. His waes
were 10 shilling a week nnd lodgings
found, which did not leave him much to

"Ah," said the inagistrato trying the
aaso, "yon should think of tho honor."
The defendant sturdily replied, to tho
amazement of the court, that there
wasn't much honor to bo got out of 10
shillings a week.
It would seem from this case that the
queen pays her farm laborers and work
men generally on her private estate from
9 to 4 shillings a week less than tho aver
age wages in the district, which is not at
all surprising to those who know her
frugal, not to say parsimonious mind.
She would not in any case rend the in

because she reads only tho Tory Times,
