The Nez Perce Story class will cover: • Traditional Plateau Indian culture and the impacts of white arrivals: disease, horses, fur trade, missionaries, settlers, and miners. This will take us up to the War of 1877. • Immediate events preceding the War: Treaties of 1855, 1863, and Grant’s proposed division of the Wallowa Country in 1873. Some but not too much attention to the war itself; this is covered in numerous books and articles. • The war’s aftermath, from Bear’s Paw to Indian Territory, and from Indian Territory back to the Northwest — but not to Oregon. Where and how the Nez Perce peo- ple live today; three reservations, a National Historical Park and the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland. Registration is $360 or $324 for Fishtrappers. This workshop will include opportuni- ties to write and share works in progress for supportive response from fellow writers. No experience is required. “Cultivating Resilience — When Writing About Trauma” is set for Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is $60 or $55 for Fishtrappers. This session is led by Justin Hocking. The workshop will explore healing methods based on a new field of Narrative Therapy and “contemporary body-focused psychology.” Scholarships ore reduced regis- tration rates may be available. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Your One Stop Music Shop ‘Who’s Your Buddy?’ art show on display now JOSEPH — The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture is currently showing “Who’s Your Buddy,” an art exhibit celebrating the relationship between humans and their special companion. The show runs through Feb. 22. It can be viewed at the Josephy Center, 403 N. Main St., weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Masks are required. The show can also be viewed online at www.josephy.org. ‘Mug Shots’ on display through Jan. 30 BAKER CITY — There are still a few more days to see “Mug Shots,” a show celebrating collections of mugs, at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn Ave. The show ends Jan. 30. Although the featured mugs are on loan from private collections and not for sale, the sales gallery is stocked with unique mugs to purchase.
