Thursday, January 14, 2021 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon 3 MUG shots ■ J anuary art show features special mugs on loan from collectors BAKER CITY — Private collec- tions of mugs are on display this month at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn Ave., Baker City, for the show titled “Mug Shots.” January usually brings the an- nual student show. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of classes at Crossroads and the school district, the student show was postponed. Local potters Terri Axness and Debbie Penning proposed the idea for a show exhibiting “the love of artisanal mugs.” “Mug Shots” showcases private collections gathered by local and regional patrons. Featured mugs were crafted by local, regional and national artists. Each display is accompanied by a description of the creator of the mug, as well as comments from the collector. None of the mugs in the show are for sale. However, an inven- tory of mugs is available in the art center’s sales gallery. “The goal is to inspire patrons to begin their own collection of functional artwork,” said Crystal Rainwater, community art director. In addition to the displays of mugs, special recipes are available for you to take home and test in your own mug, such as chocolate cake for one, and cod chowder. The “Mug Shots” show will be on display through Jan. 30. Images and excerpts from the private collections on exhibit are also available to view online. Go to www.crossroads-arts.org. Click on “Art” and then “Exhibits.” Crossroads is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Updates are also posted on the center’s Facebook page. owner: Aimee Brewer owner: Ann Ruel owner: Kristen Kieffer OVERWHELMED or UNDER INSPIRED? owner: Jen Gandee C O LLEEN Let us help you turn that around C NTO SH Founder | Fitness Instructor Contact us at: peaklifestylestudio.com PeakLifestyleStudio@gmail.com 541-663-6404 Ask us about free delivery owner: Michele Rigert STACKED WITH POWER ELGIN ELECTRIC 43 N. 8th Elgin, OR 541-437-2054 owner: Corrine Vegter FREE eBooks and audiobooks Thousands of titles AVAILABLE DAILY Noon to midnight Unlimited # of sessions at NO CHARGE!
