Call 51-963-1446 or go to grh.org/MedicalRecords for more information. Terri L. (Skeen) Barnhart 1961-2020 • Wallowa Terri Lynn Barnhart, 59, a longtime resident of Wal- lowa County, died Dec. 14. A memorial service will be held Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at Christ Covenant Church in the old school gym in Lostine. Terri was born Feb. 12, 1961, in Corvallis, one of twin daughters born to David and Sharon Skeen. She spent much of her youth riding horses with her sister, Stephani, while she helped herd cows and check fences on her grandfather’s ranch in La Grande. Terri was active in 4-H in Washington state and showed horses throughout her school days. She com- peted in two disciplines, Saddle Seat Equitation and Western Pleasure, making it to the Washington State Fair twice. Terri married her hus- band, Mark Barnhart, on Feb. 27, 1982, in Enter- prise, and their son, Samuel David, was born Sept. 1, 1988. Terri received a bach- elor’s degree in agribusi- ness from what is now Eastern Oregon University in 1984. Terri took care of her son, Sam, and helped her husband, Mark, renovate their homes. As a young woman she kept a herd of sheep, and as she grew older she fell in love with the fiber arts. She was a wool spinner, producing her own yarn and felted pot holders, and was one of the main fiber artists for her sister’s business. Public Safety Report WEDNESDAY, DEC. 30 11:43 a.m. — A caller reported possible child neglect to La Grande police. An officer made contact and determined this was a civil situation. 1:11 p.m. — A Cove resi- dent reported identity theft. A Union County sheriff’s deputy made contact and took down information. 4:57 p.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about dogs outside in a yard in the cold on the 2400 block of Empire Drive. The animal enforcement officer responded, and the dogs were no longer in the yard. 6:01 p.m. — Local law enforcement received a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on the 2100 block of Second Street, La Grande. Officers found the residence was clear and took a report. 6:46 p.m. — A caller on the 400 block of Adams Avenue, La Grande, reported a guest who refused to leave. An officer responded and resolved the situation. THURSDAY, DEC. 31 8:10 a.m. — La Grande police responded to the 2200 block of Island Avenue on a reported pos- sible restraining order vio- lation. An officer gave options. 9:13 a.m. — A caller reported a theft on the 1900 block of Adams Avenue, La Grande. A Union County sheriff’s deputy made con- tact and will follow up. 1:36 p.m. — A Union County sheriff’s deputy reported a possible aban- doned vehicle near milepost 12 on Highway 203, Med- ical Springs. 3:37 p.m. — A caller reported juveniles drinking alcohol on the 300 block of North Seventh Street, Elgin. A Union County sheriff’s deputy responded but did not find the juveniles. 5:47 p.m — A caller on the 800 block of North First Street, Union, reported loud bangs. A Union County sheriff’s deputy responded and determined the sounds were from fireworks. Local law enforcement received multiple complaints during the night of gunshots and the like that were fireworks. 8:14 p.m. — The Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Cable, 26, for driving under the influ- ence of intoxicants. 10:23 p.m. — A caller reported an intoxicated driver on Adams Avenue, La Grande. FRIDAY, JAN. 1 12:28 a.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1500 block of Adams Avenue on a report of a fight. An officer determined this was mutual combat. 2:17 a.m. — A caller reported a fight again on the 1500 block of Adams Avenue. Local law enforce- ment determined this was an argument and separated the parties. Ernestine Frances (Harvey) Ball Bradley Jacob Farrester 1923 - December 27, 2020 April 13, 2001 - November 27, 2020 Ernestine Frances (Harvey) Ball, 97, of La Grande, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at a local care facility. At her request, there will be no service. Ernestine was born in Harris- burg, Idaho in 1923 to Lilly and Ora Harvey. She lived in Harrisburg until the age of five. The family then moved to Kamiah, Idaho, where she lived until 1935. Then the family moved to Orofino, Idaho, where Ernestine spent the rest of her school years. Ernestine rode horses in her younger years. She married Harold Ball in 1941. They built a home in Pierce, Idaho where they had three children and lived there until 1965. After that, they moved to Weippe, Idaho where they built a home. Ernestine worked at the plywood mill at JP near Head- quarters, Idaho for eight years to help pay off their home. She was not afraid to do what needed done; once, while working on an electrical outlet, something went wrong and sparks flew. Harold told her she almost fried her bacon that time. Harold passed away in the summer of 1988. Ernestine lived in Weippe in their home for about two more years and then moved to La Grande, Oregon to be near her son Roger and his wife Tisha Ball. Ernestine met Lon Northcutt after a few years in La Grande. She lived and traveled with Lon for seventeen years. She had her picture in the paper a few times, as she was an excellent dancer. She and Lon danced and entertained at assisted living homes. Ernestine moved into Valley View assisted living where she lived until she passed on the 27th of December at the age of 97. She had very good care by the owner Lisa Nice, many thanks to Lisa. Survivors include Reggie Ball of Orofino, Idaho and Roger and Tisha Ball of Cove, Oregon. Harold and Ernes- tine also had a daughter Maxine Gorley who passed away in 1993. Ernestine was an excellent seamstress and made the most professional looking clothes for her grandkids. She had her grandkids stay with her where they learned things about life that only a grandma could teach them. She was an organizer by design, and if you had a room that needed orga- nized and let her at it; it would be immaculate when she was done. She was quite the carpenter as well, building shelves and cabinets for storage. She always had the most beautiful flower gardens. Ernestine once transplanted wild ferns from the woods to her rock garden at her home. They were beautiful. Ernestine will be missed, but her memories will live on and blessed are the lives she touched. She will be in a better place with her heavenly father and passed on family members. Online condolences may be made to the family at www. lovelandfuneralchapel.com. Bradley Jacob Farrester, age 19, passed away at home in Eugene, Oregon, on November 27, 2020. He was born on April 13, 2001, in La Grande, Oregon, to Jacob Farrester and Rachell (Campbell) Orvis. Bradley attended school in La Grande and later at the Willamette Academy in Eu- gene, and Job Corps in Moses Lake, Washington. Bradley was a good-hearted, kind young man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was often referred to as a gen- tle giant by those who knew him. His big smile, infectious laugh and twinkling blue eyes are fondly remembered by all who loved him. Bradley enjoyed the outdoors. He liked camping, target shooting and playing in the woods with his family. As a young teenager he participated in camping trips with the youth group at Union Baptist Church and always eagerly looked forward to those opportunities. Bradley was also an avid video gamer and could be found in an online battle to save the world with his dad and little brother. Bradley was a budding artist. He loved to draw and paint, leaving behind many little art pieces he created from simple household items. Bradley brought joy to those he came in contact with during his short life and the loss of that joy is felt by all. Bradley is survived by his parents, Jacob and Brenda Far- rester of Springfield and Rachell and Mike Orvis of Union; sisters Ashlee Farrester and Jasey Bailey of Union; brother, Lane Farrester of Springfield; grandparents, Helen and David Moore of Union and Fawn Farrester of Culver; aunts and un- cles, Rev. Becca and Bryan Milligan of Vancouver, Washing- ton, Travis Farrester and Kristen Farrester of Culver; godson, Maverick Boyd of Creswell; and many cousins, extended family and friends. Bradley was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lee Farrester, and grandparents, James Campbell and Leanna Larsen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bradley’s memory to COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors) or the Gary Sinise Foundation, two charities Bradley loved and supported. A service is planned for the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to Loveland Funeral Chapel, La Grande.
