7 Wednesday, January 15, 2020 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon QUICK TAKES Third Thursday brings ‘Toddy Trot’ to Baker City a brief look at what’s happening in northeast oregon Toddy Trot in downtown BC BAKER CITY — Baker City’s Third Thursday Unwined Walk is changing this month to be a Toddy Trot. It starts at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 at Launch Pad Baker, 2019 Main St., Suite A. Donate $10 and receive a Baker City Downtown glass and map of all locations participating in the Trot. Then visit the businesses for a small tasting of their versions of a toddy. Baker City Downtown hosts this monthly event. A portion of the pro- ceeds goes to a different nonprofit each month. BCD’s mission is to “preserve and enhance the vitality and character of our community through the beautification, promo- tion and development of downtown Baker City.” Range Rider hosts live music ENTERPRISE — Range Rider presents Steve Itterly at 8 p.m. Jan. 18. Itterly is a singer-songwriter who draws from a deep well of American musical traditions and delivers a sincere down-home vibe like a true storyteller. Introduced to Clapton, Dylan, John Hurt and Robert Johnson by his father, Itterly was inspired by their pas- sion and the raw potential of their guitar and vocal styles. On Jan. 20, Luke Hogan and Lucas Benoit will take the Range Rider stage at 8 p.m. Portland indie folk singer/songwriter Hogan is joined by fellow Portland folk and Americana artist Lucas Benoit, a founding member of the Northwest folk-rock favorites The Hill Dogs. The Range Rider is located at 107 NW First St., Enterprise. Killer Keyz returns to benefit Orpheum Theatre BAKER CITY — Baker Or- pheum Theatre will present a benefit concert of Killer Keyz Duel- ing Pianos Jan. 22. This all-request show is described as a “piano bar on steroids.” It begins at 7 p.m. at with Keyla and will be held at Peak Lifestyle Studio, 1118 Adams Ave., La Grande. Cost is $45 for all paint supplies, instruction to paint winter foxes, and snacks. Side A hosts Wednesday trivia nights LA GRANDE — Side A Brewing will host trivia night 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 22. No cell phones are allowed, and teams can be no larger than four. The winning team gets a gift card and the losing team gets to choose a category for the following trivia night. Enjoy a colorful BYOB (beer, wine, or something non-alcoholic if you prefer) abstract painting experience. Attendees will learn techniques such as wet painting, dry brushing and color washes. Course cost is $16 for members, $24 for non-members. A $14 supply fee includes everything needed for the class. Exhibit celebrates the artists among us LA GRANDE — The Big: Art Center East’s Annual Open Exhibit will be on display until Jan. 25. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibit fills both of Art Center East’s galleries with works in a wide range of artistic mediums submitted by regional artists. “We love this show because of the artists it brings out of the wood- work,” said ACE Director Darcy Dolge. “We are lucky to live in a place with an active community of artists. We have artists who have been practicing their craft for years under the radar, artists who have been displaying work for decades, and those who are just beginning to explore a new medium – all of which get to exhibit in The Big.” All submissions are also eligible to win cash prizes awarded by the exhibit judge. This year’s judge is local glass artist Kevin Boylan, owner of the newly opened Birddog Glass studio in La Grande. A final prize, People’s Choice, is selected by exhibit attendees throughout the run of the show and will be awarded on Jan. 25.
