We’re in this small 2A school and you go to those tourna- ments and kids that are there doing the same exact thing you’re doing, wanting to be in the same place you are, and that really ups the competitiveness of trying to play at the next level.” Both Union boys head coach Odin Miller and girls head coach Rhondie Rickman- Johansen said the players’ willingness to seek out offseason help is a major bonus — especially considering OSAA regulations limit how much a coach can interact with players out of season. “With Blake and Maya, they’re over there all the time out of season,” Miller said. “(Keegan and Callie are) constantly getting some training done with them. “We get our hands tied by OSAA regula- tion. There is zero wiggle room there, so if you have a kid who is willing to seek out help on their own, it’s a game changer.” The coaches also commended the Glenns’ parents — mother, Gretchen Kellermann; fa- ther, Kenneth Glenn Jr.; and stepfather Cody Kellermann — for their efforts in Keegan and Callie’s pursuit of their dreams. “It starts at home,” Rickman-Johansen said. “Their families, their parents have instilled in them that if you want to be good at something, it takes hard work. I have watched their families take them up and down the road and make sacrifi ces at home for their kids. In this day and age that’s what it takes. My compliments to them for pouring their heart and soul into what is important to their children.” And while they may battle for bragging rights at home, Rickman-Johansen com- mented on the humble demeanor the two teens possess. “They are not cocky, They’re confi dent, and they just give off a very different aura about them.
