LOCAL SCHOOLS OPEN SEASON AT ENTERPRISE KICKOFF The Union/Cove wrestling team used two runner-up efforts, two third-place fi nishes and three fourth-place fi nishes Friday to take third place at the Enterprise Kickoff. Carter Blackburn and Alleah Haydon each took second to pace the Bobcats, who scored 96 points as a team to fi nish behind just Baker (156 points) and Pine Eagle (123). Blackburn fi nished with a 2-1 record at 152 pounds, while Haydon went 1-1 in the 220B bracket. Jaxon Blackburn (138) fi nished with a 4-1 record — with all of his wins coming by fall — to take third for the Bobcats. Also in third was David Creech, who went 3-1 with three wins by fall at 182. In fourth were Gage Martens (2-2 at 113), Levi Hammond (3-2 at 160) and Michael Day (3-2 at 220). Fourth-place Joseph/Wallowa (90.5 points) picked up a victory from Jonah Staigle at 220. Staigle won all three of his matches by fall, including over McLoughlin’s Tanner Wells in 1:38 in the fi nal. Zeb Ramsden and Ronny Morello each went 2-1 to take second, Ramsden at 145 and Morello at 170. Lute Ramsden (126) went 2-2 at 126 to place fourth. All three wrestlers claimed both their wins by fall. Elgin, in ninth with 52.5 points, placed three wrestlers. Clayton Hammond led the way by going 2-1 at 182 to take second, and earned two wins by fall. Ty Hammond (160) went 4-1 with three pins to take third, and Reece McConnell fi nished 2-2 to take fourth. Garret Burns led 10th-place Imbler (45 points) by winning at 113 pounds. Burns was 3-0 with two pins, and took down Micah Rob- bins of Hanford in 2:15 in the championship round. MyKail Foster (152) placed fourth with a 2-2 record, posting two wins by fall. Trace Evans (138) scored a title by going 3-0 for Enterprise, which took 11th with 44 points. Evans won two matches by fall, and in the title match defeated Pine Eagle’s Cut- ter Huff by a 14-3 major decision. Justice McQuown and Cody Fent went third and fourth at 132 for the Outlaws. McQuown went 3-1 with two pins, and Fent went 3-2 with two takedowns. Fent also had a high-scoring 26-21 decision over Heppner’s Saul Lopez in the consolation semifi nals. Enterprise followed by taking part in the Dick Griswold Memorial Invite Saturday. Evans placed second at 138 pounds with a 2-1 record, and Hunter Harvey recorded two wins at 152. Joseph/Wallowa competes at the Culver Invitational Friday, while the rest of the teams are at the Muilenburg Invite.
