Shelter From the Storm
throws a Pancake-Palooza
LA GRANDE — Shelter From
the Storm is having a Pancake-
Palooza fundraiser from 8:30 a.m.
to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Pres-
byterian Friendship Center, 1204
Spring Ave., La Grande. Gluten-
free, dairy-free and vegetarian
options will be available. The event
will feature a silent auction, ac-
tivities for children and an all-ages
Halloween costume contest.
Tickets are $10 for ages 14 and
older, $5 for ages 4-13, and free for
ages 3 and younger. Secure your

Wine Walk benefi ts
Community FORCE
BAKER CITY — This month’s
wine walk sponsored by Baker City
Downtown will benefi t Community
FORCE. The walk is from 5 p.m. to
8 p.m. and begins at Hatch, 2019
Main St. A $10 donation gives
participants a Baker City Down-
town logo wineglass and a map of
participating businesses.
The donations will help Commu-
nity FORCE connect families and
the community with information
and resources at no cost. Specifi -
cally, the areas that the network
will focus on are: disability aware-
ness; education planning, life
planning and fi nancial planning;
and monthly support groups and
quarterly family fun days.
Soft pastels workshop set
for Nov. 2-3
BAKER CITY — Antonia Car-
riere will lead a workshop on soft
pastels Nov. 2 and 3 at Crossroads
Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn
Ave., Baker City.
Students meet from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. each day. The course will
cover the process from beginning to
fi nished piece.
Cost is $90 for members or $135

Make sugar skulls for Dia
de los Muertos
LA GRANDE — A two-day
class will make and decorate
sugar skulls, a tradition of Dia de
los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in
remembrance of loved ones who
have died. Classes will be Oct. 26
at 7 p.m. and Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
at Art Center East, 1006 Penn, La
Grande.
Students may keep or add their
skulls to the community ofrenda
(altar) in the Art Center East gal-
lery. The class is for ages 10 and
older. Cost is $25 members or $30

drawing and painting workshop for
children in grades three to six on
Nov. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to noon
at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center,

The class will explore technical
approaches to creating an acrylic
painting from start to fi nish.
Cost is $32 members or $48 non-
members. Each student will also be

LA GRANDE — Reservations
are now being taken for “Escape
from Cell Block 52” at La Grande’s
Escape Room. Four time slots are
available — 6 p.m., 7 p.m. 8 p.m.
and 9 p.m. Dates are Oct. 18, 19, 25
and 26, and Nov. 1, 2, 8 and 9.
Cost is $15 per person. The
