10 Wednesday, October 2, 2019 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon Artists open studios this weekend for tours ■ Annual event includes two days of tours at studios in Baker Valley BAKER CITY — Although she’s created art her entire life, Barbara Romance recently completed a new set of works that will be on display during this weekend’s Open Studio Tour. “I’m picking up painting again,” she said. Her works, in bold colors and clean geometric shapes, are in the style of the beginning era of modern art. She’s not the only artist prepar- ing for the tour — nearly 30 will open their studio spaces this week- end for the annual Open Studios Tour in Baker County. Tour stops will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sun- day (unless otherwise noted in the list of participating artists). The tour is self-guided. Maps are available at local art galleries. Many stops are at an artist’s personal studio space where visitors can tour and see works in progress. Crossroads Carnegie Art Center and Churchill School will feature multiple artists. Here is a list of participating artists and where they will be set up for the studio tour. Note that several are open Saturday only.
