However, her three- month- old
twin Denett was strong enough
Thursday night to take some di-i
luted milk orally. She had been j
bottle-fed a solution of sugar, salt
and water Thursday afternoon.
The twins were separated in a
five-hour operation by four doc
tors in the University of Oregon
Medical School hospital here
Tuesday morning. . .
Jeanett began to show difficulty
in breathing Wednesday and doc
tors performed a tracheotomy, In
serting a silver tube in her wind
pipe so she would be able to
breathe more easily.
Still Critical
Even though Jeanett apparently
passed a crisis yesterday and
Denett drank her first milk since
their trip to surgery, hospital
attendants emphasized that both
girls were still considered in criti
cal condition and would remain so
for some time.
A 24-hour watch over the nfants
will continue as long as neces
sary, hospital officials said.
The twin girls were born a
month premature by Caesarian
section to Mrs. James Stubble
field of Parma, Ida., on June 29
in Nyssa, Ore., hospital. The girls
were flown here for special treat
ment shortly after birth.
