They went by way of Seattle and up into Canada, o Mr. and Mrs. James Cornell have returned to their home in HouldeT, Colo., after spending a week visiting in the valley. They have been staying with the Shaws helping out since Mrs. Shaw's re cent illness. ' ; o Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wiseman are living in their trailer house on her parents' farm until the last of August when they will move to Portland, where Joan will teach school again and Jim will go to college. - s 0 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woodell and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Coleman spent Sunday picnicking in the mountains. o Mrs. Ted McLaughlin, Teddy, Susie. Crouscr, of Imbler, was surprised on Wednesday after noon when several members of he American Legion Auxiliary I'nit 86, of Imbler. called on her. Mrs. Crouscr recently fell and broke her arm. Those attending were the pres ident, Nora Hansen, Dora Spen cer, Mrs. Frances Lloyd, Neva Masters and Bessie Taylor. Following an afternoon of vis iting, cake, ice cream and iced tea were served by the members attending. Christ of Latter Day Saints. Victor Walch has attended Eastern Oregon College and will continue his studies in the School if Law at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where they will make their home. He has served an LDS mission in Southern ..Cali fornia and at the present time is stationed at Fort Ord, singing with the Ford Ord Soldiers' Chor us. Club To Hold Sale Sept. 6 . The Three Links met in regu lar session Wednesday evening in the 100F hall, with Ha Dial feting as president, in the ab sence of Frances Tubb. There were 20 members and one guest present for the evening. The guest was Barbara Snider, of Stanfield, granddaughter of Bes sie Beaton. The main order of business was making plans for the rummage sale to be held Sept. 6. Nelle Clark and Laura Bond are co chairmen of the affair. Everyone who is able to help with the rummage sale is being asked to meet in the IOOF hall on Friday evening, Sept. 5,- at 7:30 p.m. They are to bring a can of food for the baskets for the sale drawing. Coffee and doughnuts will also be available Saturday morning at the sale. Games were played for the eve ning with a number of winners. Refreshments were served by Ua Dial, Blanche Mortenscn and Hester Nice. Elgin Briefs Mr. and Mrs. Lute Geiger have sold their ranch on Indian Creek to Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Redman, of Houston, Texas. They have named her Heather Lee and she weighs five pounds and eight and a half ounces. have been on a singing tour through California, Nevada, Mex ico, and Washington. They all go to Pacific Bible College in Portland. o Mrs. Keith McKennis was tak en to a La Grande hospital last Thursday with a severe back in jury, Mrs. McKennis was for merly employed as an alteration seamstress. o Mrs. John Tuck, of Summervil le, has been suffering with two ribs that are pulled apart. They are former res idents of La Grande, and he is now Inspector of Locomotives for the Interstate Commerce Commis sion in Los Angeles. Visiting here at the same time 's their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Whealy Jr. They are slaying in the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gil bert Courlright. They are from Salem where he is manager of the Catipillar Store there. They both attended La Grande schools. o Mrs. Edward F. Eastern Oregon College cum laude, receiving her bachelor of science in education v illi honors at Friday morning commencement exercises. Miss Bond, a 1955 graduate of La Grande High school, is the daughter of Rebckah H. Bond, Route 1, La Grande. At Eastern Oregon College she majored in elementary education. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Chi, women's scholastic honorary, was president of the Modern Langu age clu, and chairman of the In- terfaith Council. Other degrees conferred at the summer commencement included 59 bachelor of science in educa tion and 16 master of science in education. Four Persons Join Country Club Here Four new members were added to the La Grande Country Club at their luncheon. Thursday. They were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lau rence and Mr. and Mrs. W. Lar son.
