William Shar on, faces charges of con spiracy and child molesting. The millionaire San Francisco resident, great-grondson of former vice president John C. Breckin ridge, was arrested with three other men Wednesday,' arraigned on the charges and held in lieu of $25,000 bond. Authorities accused the four of taking two boys, aged 11 and 13, to various California resorts and Las Vegas, New, for immoral pur poses. More arrests were expected. Umplcby farm, near Junction City, was exchanged by Mr. and Mrs. Umpley for the east ern Oregon ranch owned by Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Puckett, at North Powder. . The Umplebys have been hand ling a substantial specialty crop operation together with a- grade f'A"- producing dairy of- some 70 cows. The specialty crops have consisted' mainly of green beans, Sweet corn, and; some other veg etables, with the larger portion being green beans. The Pucketts expect to carry on in substanti ally the same manner. The Pucket : ranch has been handled 'as a wheat, alfalfa, and cattle ranch, with the main em phasis being upon the production of alfalfa hay - and pasture. The Umpelbys indicate that they will continue in a similar manner. Here is a case where one fam ily, 'the Pucketts, former Willa mette Valley residents, wished to return to farming in the valley. Another family, the Umpleys, for mer wheat farmers, wished to re turn to a ranch type operation. A fine example of property ex change to the benefit of all par ties cancerned. (UPIi An alert 15-year-old girl was credited with saving the lives of her four young er brothers and sisters Wednes day morning as fire swept their two-story frame home here. Frances Shaffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clayton, was taking care of the children while her parents and four other chil dren were picking beans near In dependence. - Dallas Fire Chief Dan Duff said Frances smelled smoke and dash ed to the second floor and awak ened her nine - year - old brother, Joey. 1 Frances then led Joey, Danny Shaffer, 7, Linda Clayton, 3,' and Tommy Clayton, 2, from the blaz ing homo. The plucky girl then ran to a neighbor's home and alerted the fire department. Chief Duff -said Joey probably would have been' asphyxiated in his sleep if the girl had been a minute or two later.
