Oregon's railroad Industry put
out a call today for experienced
railroad workers to maintain the
state's transportation facilities.
Capt. Ralph O. Hoge chairman
of the state railroad urgency com
mittee, said applications for jobs
were constantly increasing, but
the large majority of those who
had applied had no previous rail
rood experience.
Without sufficient manpower
to tnke care of the henvy traffic,
both passenger and freight, there
is a possibility the transportation
system will break down, Hogi
said.
Immediately needed, he said,
are car inspectors, boilennukers.
machinists, car repairmen, signal
men and signal assistants, and
switchmen.
