ONE ARRESTED Jim Palm
er, La Grande, was arrested by
city police last night on charge
of being drunk. He is being held
for appearance in city court to
day, police records show.
SIX FINED Edward Turlock,
La Grande, was fined $8 in jus
tice court yesterday for not hav
ing an operator's license. Gor
man Harris, La Grande, was
fined $7.50 for not having brand
inspection, Lawrence Mardis, La
Grande, was fined $7.50 on a
charge of having only ono license
plate, Marvin Lagore, North
Powder, was fined $4 for not
having an operator's license.
Gordon N. Hall, La Grande, was
fined $7.50 after pleading guilty
to a charge of permitting an un
licensed person to drive his car,

Hunt Continues
For Slayer of
Three in City
Windsor; Ont., Aug. 21 (UP)

pects In the "commando slaylngs"
of three Windsor men, t w o of
whom apparently were killed by
a knife-wielding maniac and the
olher battered to deathf More
than 30 suspects have been ques
tioned. Detective inspector Duncan
MacNab said a commando-type
knife was used in two of the
layings. He said it was apparent
someone with commando train
ing had committed the murders.
The manhunt was touched off
Aug. 8 when Frank Sciegliski
was found stabbed. Last Thurs
day, William Davies, a garage
night watchman, was found with
his head battered in. Last Satur
day, Sgt. Hugh Price, returned
serviceman, was stabbed to death.
A scribbled note was found last
night in the Detroit-Windsor tun
nel warning that a girl will be
the next murder victim. A $3,000
reward has been offered.
