Railroads ToKSave
Much More Space
WASHINGTON, July 6 (UP)
Summer travel plans of American
civilians took another jolt today
with news Pullman space for
non-military users wJU be out
at least 50 percent .during the
next three months.
Because of the unexpected
swiftness of army redeployment,
the nation's railroads are starting
right now to reserve 75 percent
of their 6,000 Pullman cars for
troops. More, the army will take
100 percent if it's needed.
Previously, military travel re
quired anywhere up to 50 percent
of total Pullman space. But the
redeployment peak, originally
scheduled for October, is coming
this month instead, according to
the office of defense transporta
tion. Revenue Carloading

tion of American Railroads dis
closed today.
This volume represents an in
crease of 17,299 cars over the
preceding week but a decrease of
3,469 from the corresponding
1944 week.
Loadings for the year to date
aggregated 21,7.61,945 cars com
pared with 21,285,302 in the cor
responding 1944 period.
