CHICAGO, May 19 (UP) Sat
urday shoppers' at most of the
4,000 "strikebound" Chicago gro
cery stores were unable to buy
perishable foods today as 6,500
striking truck dri.'ers continued
their refusals to haul food, mer
chandise and war matcricls.
Spokesmen for the city's three
largest grocery companies said
the strike of the independent
Chicago truck drivers union in
an attempt to enforce wage de
mands, had completely stopped
deliveries of fruits, green foods
and other perishables. They re
ported stocks of meat, poultry,
fish and butter comparatively un
the foods were hauled for the

and four sisters who reside in
the cast.
She was born March 28, 1911
in Buladean, N. C, and had re
sided in Union county about 11
years. She' was a member of the
Baptist church.
Funeral services will be con
ducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday, in (he
Summerville chapel, with Rev.
Glen Ballard of Elgin officiating,

Of Roosevelt Car
MIDDLETOWN, N. J., May 19
(UP) Four persons were killed
and two injured today when Mrs.
Eleanor Roosevelt's convertible
automobile struck a truck near
Montgomery, N. Y. All six vic
timcs were Negroes, police said.
They were riding in Mrs. Roose
velt's car.
Police said the truck was
parked on the road and thut the
Roosevelt car struck it.
Mrs. Roosevelt's choul four
James J. Johnson, jr., 25, who
was driving the car, was Injured.
The Dutchess county sheriff's
office received a report from Mrs.
Malvina Thompson, Mrs. Roose
velt's secretary, that the cor
failed to return to the Roosevelt
Inline after taking Mrs. Roosevelt
lo the train at Poughkeepsie last
night.

Restriction on Fuel
Oil Use Is Lifted
