Abow the only exceptions were the air crafts, where 'losses ranged to more than a point in Douglas. This group still, felt the influence of a reduced dividend by United Aircraft. A higher dividend for Johns Manville sent the stock soaring nearly 4 points ,to its 1945 hi'jh. A dividend increase also sent Al lied Stores to a new high. Amer ican Telephone equalled its high on declaration ;, of the regular quarterly dividend of $2.25 a share maintained steadily since f922. CHICAGO GRAIN CHICAGO, May 16 (UP) Grain futures ruled strong on the board of trade today with inter est centered in the expiring May Contract. May rye rose to the highest, level since 1925. -rJMay heal established a new season pi peak and May corn equalled yesterday's ceiling. May corn and oats declined fractionally on the close, coun tering the upturn in other deliv eries. Rye finished the day up Vt to 2 cents a bushel; wheat up Vt to ; corn off to up ; oats off 14 to up , and barley up 2Vfc to off y4. Active short-covering lifted May wheat to within of the ceiling.
