Nelson has returned from Baker where she visited several days with her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Murray. Mrs. Helen Dutlie of Enterprise returned to her home there last night after visiting since Tuesday with friends. She came to La Grande with Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Snyder, who came to meet their daughter, Mrs. William Graves, and two children of Baker. Sni der went on to Portland and Mrs. Snider and her daughter and grandchildren returned to Enterprise. The visiting chapters were Bushee No. 19 of Pendleton, Grande Ronde Valley No. 52 of Union, and Blue Mountain chap tr,i No. 40 of Elgin. Mildred Winters and Bruce Morehead, worthy matron and patron of Hope chapter, presided. Among the honorer guests were Hazel M. Folsom, past wor thy grand matron of Oregon, rlorence McKinnis and James McKinnis, worthy matron and patron of Blue Mountain csap ler, Betty Ferguson and Wayne Ferguson, ' worthy matron and patron of Grand Ronde chapter, and Bertha Hanscom and Milton Carter, worthy matron and pat ron of Bushee chapter. Weddings Events Page 3 The courtesy girls compliment ed the guests with a floral de gree, half of the girls carrying dainty pastel parasols and the lest carrying sprinkling cans, which when opened turned into sun-faces. A white latticed fence with vines and flowers was used as a background, where at the close of the degree, the girls left their parasols and sun-faces. Each vis iting matron and the past grand matron received corsages and the visiting patrons and George T. Cochran, past worthy grand pat ron of Oregon, were each pre sented with a boutonniere. Dur ing the degree, Edyth Worley sang "Singing in the Rain," "You Are My Sunshine" and "Roses of Picardy." The visiting matrons and pat ions addressed the assembly, ex pressing their pleasure in being present and thanks for their I flowers. Bess Cook, program chairman Introduced Leroy Darling, who presented a group from the high school in a musical program. Marilyn Chandler sang "My Task" and Frances Voruz sang a song in French. Glen Houle played a saxaphone solo, "Valse Erica" by Weidoft. The girls sextet, Fiances Voruz Dorothy Hart, Barbara Caroll, Marilyn Chandler, Patty ' Jacobson and Ruth Williams, sang two num bers, "Who is Svlvia" and "The Nr.ughty Little Clock." The ac companist was Phyllis McLaugh lin. Mr. Darling explained that all r.f the numers presented receiv ed first awards in the national music contest held last week at the high school, where three na tional judges adjudicated the contest. Mrs. John M. Miller pre sented a group of readings. Refreshments were served by the officers and courtesy girls. At a tea tabic centered by a large bouquet of spring flowers, Flor ence McKninis and Betty Fergu son presided at the coffee urns. Chairman of the refreshment committee was Mildred Hale, as s:sted by Florence Richardson, Eva German, Berdilla Millering, Bertha Conkllin, Eva Zion, Va lctte Harer, Grace Molitor, Kath cryn Moran, Bernice Smith, Frank German and Sam Zion. Officers are Named By Parkdale Club Mrs. Claude Bartmess yester day was elected president of the Parkdale club when the group mot yesterday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Ira Kennedy, with Mrs. Bartmess the hostess. Other officers elected are Mrs. E. B. Groiner, vice-president; Mrs. Charles Marshall, secretary treasurer, and Mis. Charles Hoak, Red Cross chairman. Guests of the group were Mrs. Carrie Garity, Ella Ryncarson and Mrs. Bess Scriber. The afternoon was spent sew ing on afghansy and at the con clusion of the afternoon the host ess served refreshments. Officers will be installed at the next meeting, the time to be an nounced later. Birthday Party Is Held by Rebekahs ., And Odd Fellows Crystal Rebckah and Odd Fpl lows lodges last night celebrated the birthday anniversaries of the members which come during Ap ril. After the business session of the Rebekahs, presided over by Mrs. W. H. Gooderham, presi dent, Mrs. Fannie Carter, chair man of the entertainment and her committee, conducted a card party for the honored members. Prize for high score in pinochle was awarded to Mrs. Eva Shafer, and for low to C. W. Cameron. Mrs. Dorothy Smith won the prize for high Ecore at Chinese checkers. Mrs. Tom Ruckman and her committee served refreshments el . tales decorated with spring flowers. Pre-School Group Will Have Party Greenwood school will have the annual pre-school party at 1:30 p. m., Friday in the school house, for children who will start to Greenwood school for their first year, and their mothers. A county health nurse will speak to the mothers and the children will be entertained by the first grade classes and their instructors, Miss June Coolldge and Mrs. Nell Thacker.
