Red Cross Work
For Service Men .
Told Church Group
The Wi'sleyan Circle of the
First Methodist chinch was en
tertained yesterday afternoon at
the home nf Mrs. W. E. Adler,
with Mrs. Harvey Carter, the
hostess, assisted by Mrs. Lester
Vt.n Oloklnnd and Mrs. William
Bark.
The hiiiliiiKlit of the meeting
was a talk by Miss Jean Williams
on the Red Cross and its service
to the armed forces.
Mrs. H. I. Hctlrick gave the
devotionals, using as her title
"We Acknowledge Thee to be
Lord".
Miss Bcrta Lloyd, Miss Evelyn
Masten, Mrs. P. O. Sigler and
Mrs. Samuel Walker, were wel
comed as new members.
Guests were Mrs. Freeman
Dull, Mrs. Joseph Gaiser, Mrs
Roy McKuwn, Mrs. 1. S. Motz,
Mrs. Fred ration, Mrs. Frank
Tyler, Mrs. Emerson Reavis, Mrs.
Roy Skeen, Mrs. Herbert Ravis,
Mrs. Fori est Zirkle and Miss Wil
liams. Daffodils and pussy willow
were used throughout the
rooms for tiecoration, . nd re
freshments weiv served by the
hostesses.
An invitation was extended to
all members and guests to attend
tl.e combined m 'cling of all the
circles in the Neighlmi mod club
house, April 17.
The next meeting of the Wis
leyan circle will be May II, with
Mrs. George Moats.

Eleven tables of pinochle were
arranged at a recent card par'y
of the Royal Neighbors in the
Neighborhood club house.
Prizes were won by Alma War
and Ed Hoffman for high score,
Ella Gulzow and Ernest Case for
fourth, and traveling prize went
to Melba Metsker. '
Bertha Johnson, chairman, and
her committee including Ella
Koeter, Marian Holmann, Avis
Wilson and Erma England,
served refreshments.

Guests At Meeting
Of Benefit Group
The Women's Benefit associa
tion had as their guests at last
night's meeting in the IOOF hall,
Mrs. Minnie Schmid, state field
director, and Mrs. Margaret
Barker, health nurse, both of
Portland. They spoke briefly on
the order and gave instruction.
Mrs. Boyd Turner, Mrs. Ralph
DcBoic and Mrs. Bert Kitterman
were initiated.
The group planned the third
of a series of parties, io be held
April 27 in the Neighborhood
club house, and a potluck dinner
for April 20 in the home of Mrs.
Claude Mackcy. Mrs. Roe Bu
chanan presided.

Ralph Jones,' in recognition of
her work during the past year.
Two awards were earned by
tha study group of this unit, one
from the slate president for com
pleting the state course, and the
other from the national associa
tion for using the national parent-teacher
magazine. ' The .units
also leads the county in the num
ber of subscriptions to the na
tional publication.

geles, and Mrs. Robert Fossum
of Baker, were guests.
The next meeting will be Tues
day at 7:30 p. m. in the USO,
with Mrs. Robert Sheltan as
hostess.
