There Is much historical signifi
cance attached to the locality as was
pointed out by the two speakers of
the afternoon the Hon. Dunham
Wright, of Medical Springs, president
of the county pioneers and the Hon
Walter M. Pierce, Both gave many
historical Instances and Incidents In
the. course of the two Inspiring ad
dresses which made their hearers feel
that they, indeed, were standing on
holy ground. This particular place
was chosen for the first historical
marker, because it hnd been the
camping place during the winter of
J8G1-1862 of the Brown'B, the Lensys
and their :'t .rty. As Mr. Pierce made
the format dedication, the monument
wus unveiled by Ben Brown.s daugh
ter, Mrs. Alma Conley, of La Grande,
and his great-great-granddaughter.

during the afternoon and announced
the .various numbers.

Ralph Lamm was arrested this
morning by state police for driving a
motor vehicle on the public highway
without a license, and was fined $5
in the Justice court after entering
a plea of guilty to the charge. Judge
L. Denham presided in the caso. The
fine was paid.
