Francis Bfpwn Auxiliary Elects For Next teat v Thirty-five member of the- Francis Brown auxiliary to the Sons and Daughters of Union County Pioneers were present for the Important meet ing of Thursday afternoon at the Sacajawea Inn. The hostesses were Mtas Minnie Holman, Mrs. Wll'.lam McWllllams, Mrs. Charles Hoke and Mrs. B. F. Owsley. - During the busi ness meeting, election of officers was the chief Item and nil the present Incumbents were chosen for another period of service, Mrs. Kate Hnnley, president; Mrs. - J. J. Conley, vice president; Mrs. Pbtlllp Lockwood, sec retary, and Mrs.. Charles- Hoko, treas urer. The president appointed the following members, to servo on the executive board, Mrs. Julius Rocsch, Mrs. Everett Wallfilnger, Mrs. William Condlt, Mru. J. A. Clarity, and Mrs. Millie Young. Three new members, Mrs. L. J. Chadwick, Mrs. Julia Holmes and Mrs. Hurry Meyers, were received. ' . For the program of the nfternoon-. The hostesses sorved, f Mrs.; Leslie Keffer Complimented Mrs. Leslie Keffer, a recent bride, was complimented with a party last evening when Mlcu Leah Bramwell, Mrs. Daniel Turley and Mrs, Jack Cool Id go entertained 27 guests at a dessert bridge at the Coolldge homo. At the five tables that played during the evening, high score was made by Miss Connie Ray and fourth by Miss Marva Lyman, of Salt. Lake, who Is a guc-.it of friends In La Grande. Local People Wed Tuesday According to word received in In Ora:ide today Miss Gertrude Conrad of this city, and Charles Hicks were married by a Justice of the peace In Walla Walla Tuesday of thiu week. Mr. Hicks has been teaching the Summervllle school. No further par ticulars of tho event have been re ceived, Mrs. Hagey Is Surprised A group of friends from La Grande went to Island City Friday evening and surprised Mrs. Henry Hagey most completely, a fine evening's party fol lowing.
