Mrs. Besse Geibel, of the city school
teaching force, has gone to Portland
where ehe will visit her daughter,
Besse. The latter, who has been at
tending the University of Oregon, Is
going to summer school In Portland.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kllnghommer
and daughter, Marjorle, arrived in
La Grande yesterday from their home
at Durango, Colorado, and will spend
two weeks vacation visiting relatives
and friends. They are guests at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L,

Mrs. J. C. Gulling left this after
noon for Wallowa Lake where she will
spend several days as the guest of
Mrs. W. H. Bohnenkamp at her cabin.
En Route Home
. Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Herrman
stopped in La Grande for a short
tune yesterday, en route to their
home at Baker. They have been on
a. honeymoon trip to Victoria. B. C.
and stopped here to visit her parents,
Mr, and Mrs. W. O. Kelly.
Visit Daughter
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Brownton
drove . to Pomeroy, Wash., Saturday
for a visit over the weekend with
their daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Ripley
and family. At Pendleton they met
their son, Wesley who had come that
far from Eugene and went on with
them to Pomeroy.

Miss Mabel Morton returned this
morning from Portland where she had
been over the weekend accompany
ing Miss Amanda Zabel that far on
her trip around the world.

visitor in La Grande today from his
home at Medical Springs where he is
manager of the hotel, sanatorium and
swimming pool. ,

Earl Wagner Injured
Word was received here today by
Glenn Wagner that his brother, Earl
Wagner, of Forest Grove, had been
Injured in an auto accident. The ac
cident occurred Sunday night.
Wagner sustained Injuries to the ex
tent of three broken ribs.
Son Is Born
A baby boy was born last night to
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Root of 1612
Adams. The boy arrived at 11:20 p.
m. and weighed 6 pounds. Dr. C. L.
Gils trap attended.

Grande today en route to Portland
where she will attend the University

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson, of

their home at Pendleton after having
spent the weekend here. They came
for the wedding of their granddaugh
ter, Edna Mae Wilson, to Leslie Kef
fer which was an event of Sunday.
Teachers' Evumluutlons Planned-
Teachers' examinations will be
given this week at the court house,
according to County School Superin
tendent E. A. Sayre. " The examina
tions will be given on Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday, and application

Mrs. J. K. Wright, accompanied by
her son, Lynne Wright, left yesterday
for Oakland, Cal where they expect
to make an extended visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest E. Vehrs. During the
absence of Mr. Wright from the drug
store of which he is owner, Herbert
Luehrs, who recently was graduated
from the department of pharmacy of
Oregon State college, is in charge of
the prescription Department of the
drug store. Mr. Luehrs' home is in
Ontario.
Prof. Raymond Visits
Paul F. Raymond, who has been a
member of the faculty of the law
school at the University of Oregon, is
visiting In La Grande and during his
stay Is a guest of Wesley Brownton.
Mr, Raymond is very much Impress
ed by the grandeur of the surround
ing country and he and his host are
planning several trips fJnfThg the
next few days to Include Wallowa
Lake, Mt. Emily, the lake basin, the
Imnaha country anil the Snake river.
Following his summer vacation, Mr.
Raymond will go to Florida where he
has accepted a similar position to
that which he hes held at the university.
