was a visitor In La Grande last night
and was present at the armory dur
ing the drill period of Company E.

transferred to the national guard
reserve, and that two openings for

Flying of the airmail was resumed
today by commercial planes.
Over four routes private nlrlines
relieved the army of the mall carry
ing, and. postal officials said at
Washington that other routes would
be surrendered to commercial ships
within the next few days under the
contrncts awarded last week.
A United Air Line plane left Salt
Lake City for Seattle at 2:57 a. m.
(M. S. T.) with a cargo of moll and
five passengers and five minutes
later another ship left the Utah city
for Sun Diego.

Pendleton went Into tho ditch, three
miles this sldo .of Kaniela Saturday
at 8 p. m., according to an accident
report filed at the police station by
tho driver, Willie Williams. The
driver ascribed the accident to tho
glarhig headlights of another car, the
license number' of which ho was un
able to obtain. The name of the man
from Union was not given on the re
port, which stated that ho Is in the
La Grande hospital. Other passengers
were John Wahclse and Walter Pond.
