The members of the highway com mission, among other things, prom ised to give their early consideration to a request made by the local com mittee, for the oiling of the Island City-Cove highway. Members of the state legislature of this vicinity alBo were present at this luncheon. Mr. Scott and Mr. Baldock were making an Inspection tour of this section of the state while in attend ance at the Masonic meeting at Pen dleton Saturday. Other Masons who accompanied them on the trip were Mr. Miller, mayor of Med ford, and .Mr.' Cheney, of Portland, who were guests' at the meeting Saturday.
