O, Long, and will be announced later. Several amall affairs have filled the week socially and practically every afternoon and evening finds a group of women gathered for contract or auction bridge. Valentine day furnished the Inspiration for a num ber of charming events, while many are utilizing the George Washington theme for party decoration. One of the delightful social events of the week was the Valentine party at which Mrs. W. 8. Harer was hostess Wednesday evening at her home. Members of her club were Invited for two tables of contract bridge. Dessert was served at 7 o'clock at tables decorated with red hearts and tall red tapers, carrying out a Valen tine theme. Mrs. B. B. Johnson- was thigh scorer at bridge, Mrs. , William Barclay re ceived the second prize and Mrs, J. F. Cunllffe, consolation. Dessert Bridge Thursday Event A dessert bridge was arranged by Mrs. M. B. Donohuo Thursday after noon for members of the Thursday Bridge club at her home. Dessert was served at 1:16 o'clock after which three tables were arranged for bridge with Mrs. Andrew Lee, Mrs. G. R. Kerr and Mrs. H. M. Young as guests. Mrs. Kerr received the prize for high cow fimong the gurtjf wid Mrs. p. J. Edenholm, among the members. Mrs.' Edenholm will entertain two weeks. , Fred Taylor sang "Home on the Range" and "The Old Spinning Wheel," accompanied by Miss Anna Mae Shafer. Mr. Dahlstrom played a piano solo, "Red River Valley," and played and sang a Swedish song, "Merry-go-round." Miss Dolla Jean Dahlstrom furnished a piano solo. Each of the members read a Valen tine poem. i Mrs. Emma Bloklond will entertain at the next meeting In two weeks at a o'clock at her home, assisted by Mrs, John Bowery. Pinochle Party Surprise Event A surprise party was enjoyed Thurs day evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emer Conrad. Three tables of pinochle were arranged and the prizes awarded to Otto Pleper and Mrs. Henry Ploper, high scores, and Mrs. Carl Keller, consolation. Those Invited were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pleper, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pleper, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Keefer, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keller and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Miller. ... Diversity Club Is Entertained 16 Tables at Play At Card Party The Diversity club was entertained Thursday afternoon at the home of In f Mrs. Weldon Vedder. Mrs. Russell Davy, a guest, completed three tables for bridge and the prizes were award ed to Mrs. M. E. Wauge. first, and Mrs. George Cooper, fourth. Mrs. Wauge will entertain the club in two weeks. Sixteen tables were arranged for bridge and pinochle Wednesday night when the Pythian Sisters entertained, at a card party at the hall. Prizes at bridge were awarded to Mrs. Claude Berry and Alvah Crowley, first, and Mrs. Charles Karther, con solation, and at pinochle to Mrs. F. A. Ingram and Frank Cleavlnger, high, Paul Brace, consolation. Members of the committee rn charge wore Mrs. Crowley, chairman, Mrs. H. W. Riley, Mrs. Walter Jones ana Mrs. A. E. Chandler. A quilt made by the Pythian Sis ters will be displayed at the card party and later at Fitzgerald Fuml tUV company. Pinochle Enjoyed By So-Ne-He Club Pinochle was the diversion of the afternoon Wednesday when Mrs. Erna Fitzgerald entertained the So-Ne-He club' at hor home. Valentino day furnished the motif for tho decora tions, ; ' I Prizes at cards were awarded Mrs. Teresa Patten, first, and Mrs. Sally Floberg, consolation, Mrs. Velma Vedder will entertain at the next regular meeting in two weeks, while Mrs. Fitzgerald will en tertain the members and their hus bands next Wednesday at her home. Mrs. McLaughlin Hostess to Group Mrs. J. B. MoLaughlln entertained St. Mary's Altar society of the Cath olic church Wednesday at her home with Mm. J. B. Corbett, as assistant hostess. The afternoon was spent In formally In conversation and sewing and at the olose refreshments were served by the hostesses. No activities are being planned during tent. The next meeting will foe held In two weeks with Mrs. I. M. Dolan on the Island City road. Valentine Party Enjoyed by Club One of tho most delightful valen tine parties of the season was given Wednesday afternoon for members ol the Parkdale club at the homo of Mrs. John Dahlstrom. Mrs. C. M. Riddle .was assistant hostess. Twenty members and several visitors, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Hay Orclner, Mrs. On strom and Mrs. B. P. Dahlstrom, of North Powder, were present. , Tho houso was decorated with cut flowers, wild flowers and valentine suggestion. Each guest was given a festive cap and a valentine. Mrs. I3agc Shafer arranged the pro gram. Mrs. Emma Blokland furnish ed a history of St. Valentine's day. Relief Society To Hold Dance Th first Ward Relief society of the h. d. Q. church will sponsor a dance tonight at the Recreational 'hail. Dancing will be enjoyed from 9 to 12 o'clock and during tho ovenlng a silk quilt will bo given .to one of the guests. Proceeds from the dance will be used toy the Relief society In Its activities. 1 ,; - Ah Delth Club Members Meet Mrs. William Barclay was hostess at her home Wednesday to members of ,th Ah Delth club. Bridge was play ed during the afternoon and high score was made by Mra. Roy Enbcrg. Mrs, Edna stadfeld was a guest and received a gift, A valentine motif was carried out In the bridge table appointments and In the refreshments. Mrs. J. E. Cunllffo will entertain in two weeks. Ackerman P. T. A. To Meet Tuesday The meeting night of tho J. H. Ackerman Parent Teacher association for this month has been changed from the fourth Thursday to Tues day, Feb. 20 at 8 p. m. at' the Eastern Oregon Normal school. . According to Miss Arta Lawrence, program chairman. Founders' day will be observed with a silver tea and a large birthday cake will be served to flie parents of the room having the largest representation In attend ance. An exceptionally Interesting Social Club To Meet Monday The February meeting of the East ern Star Social club will be held lit the Masonic parlors, Monday evening, Feb. 19 at 8 o'clock. Following the business meeting there will be a short program and a social hour. The committee In charge for the evening consists of Mrs. Jennie Thompson, Mrs. Cahoon and Mrs. Eva Wlssler. Past Matrons Club In Session The Past Matrons club of the Eastern Star met In the Masonic hall with 22 members present Thurs day night. Hostesses were Mrs. Ida Cherry, Mrs. Cassle Blever and Mrs. Mary Rogers. The evening was spent In needle work after which refresh ments were served. George Washington decorations were used on the refreshments table. The meeting Bias been changed from the third Thursday to the Fourth Friday and will be held next time on March 23. Camp Fire Has Valentine Party Miss Jean Hyde entertained the Gatusl Camp Fire group at a valen tine party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Tyler recently.
