Pre&ident Roosevelt has said he doesn't believe other countries are ready for stabili zation. Weapon For TradM It Is agreed generally, however, that President Roosevelt is now in posses sion of powerful weapons for bar gaining with England, France and the other nations of the world. Th dollar revaluation act places a two billion dollar stabilization fund at the president's disposal. Every dol lar of that two billion is backed by 13.96 grains of gold. More than that, he has leeway to chentre tlie value of the dollar between 11.61 grains and 13.96 grains of gold or between 50 and 00 cents on the old dollar basis. Monetary expert pointed to the fact jtliat with the gold content of the dollar reduced from 23.22 grains to 13.90 grains it' would be able to hold IUj own with any of the cur rencies of the world. The British pound, for Instance, In j terms of gold Is worth only 65 per ! cent as much as it was when Eng land wont off tlie gold standard; Scandinavian currencies only about 60 per cent of what they were when hitched to gold; the Canadian dollar only about 62 per cent of what It used to be. I , .nhl Coin Or Uulllon? ; Those nations still , on the gold standard, like Franco, Switzerland and Holland, have a gold standard different from what the United States had prior to March 5, 1933. TJie United States had a gold coin standard. These nations have a gold bullion standard. Up until last March an Individual here could take his currency to the treasury and ex change it for gold coin. In France the cheapest gold he can get is a gold bar worth thousands of dollars and scores of thousands of francs. America, now Is on an International gold bullion standard; If the major countries of tlie get together and decide what the value of their currencies shall be ln terms of gold, the United States probably would etiantfo to a similar gold bullion standard. .
