LOCAL MEN WILL (WORK AT OWYHEE (Continued man Page One) 0 In each case only men listed on the national re-employment rolls will be uted. As soon as. all qualified men liave been taken from Malheur, the Union county list will be drawn from until exhausted, and the roll; In the other counties named will then be used. If It develops that there are not enough highly skilled men In those counties, the Portland list will be drawn from. A great variety of work will be available on the Owyhee project, call ing for gaa shovel operators, concrete workers, steel fabricators, carpenters and representatives of other skilled trades. Only those men who artfully quaimea lor the work, will oe taken H was explained at headquarters here that the bureau Is required to sub mit to contractors a working list 25 per cent In excess of the mun -power needed, and from this list thfacon- t ractor may choose men he believes will meet all requirements. The Oregon headquarters office an nounced too, that on the Wallowa lake highway Job near Ixwtlne, em ployes will be recruited throtiaf the re-employment office at Ontario. Af ter all eligible and qualified workers have been taken from rolls there, the Pendleton re-employ rnejit office w bo called upon to provl workmen, The Pendleton re-employment of fico hus both Union and Whllowa un employed lists, Locally, it la believed that the additional work afforded on thti Owyhee dam will mora than com pensate for any louses through staff- lug the Los Line Job through the CQ- tarlo office. The contract of Hart brothers for tlio Wallowa job specifies that labor bo secured through Enterprise federal reemployment bureau, and that '(gy llrbt must be taken from Wallowa county. Neither contractor nor high way department have anything to do with the employment. This for PWA work, is designated by United States employment service at Portland. It specified the EnterpjAO bureau for this Job and all labor Is secured through It, according to word tills afternoon from Bulem, leaving the question somewhat hazy. MRS.
