The butter trade was mystified re garding the recent action of the gov ernment In demanding only fresh butter for1 relief purposes and to aid the Industry, when It puroliased this stock and put It In storage. This proved no aid to the storage prob lem. Instead aggravated It. The gov ernment now has storage butter for relief while lb purchased fresh stock. Quality of storage butter was said -to be unusually poor which has turn ed much of the trade away from such offerings. Trading in the egg market here continued erratic with calef interest on the produce exchange in current receipt which were selling relatively higher than the better grades. Southern agricuitural colleges re port that numerous farmers are us ing cotton benefit payments under the crop control program to make down payments on land of their own.
