My dear Mr. Nice: "We have received the secretary's book for the Wolf Creek Pig club of whloh you are the leader. We have checked over this book and surely want to congratulate your secretary upon It. The secretary, Virginia Nice, has kept this book in a most excellent manner; It is one of the best kept books that has come to our office. We are mighty proud of the book and are placing It on file here. "We also note that your pig club la a 100 per cent club, with eleven mem bers starting out In the work and eleven completing, and all reports on file in our. office. We want to con gratulate you and your group upon this, and to assure you that the cer tificate of achievement Is being pre pared and will be sent to Mr. Avery, your county agricultural agent, who will present it to your club. Florence Jasper was elected president for 1934 when the members of the Countrywoman club held their an nual election of officers Friday after noon when they met with Mrs. Betty Penland. Mrs. Frances Wells was chosen, vice president and Minnie Hoi-: man, secretary-treasurer. The newly elected officers will take their chairs at the next meeting of the olub which will be at the home of Mrs. Carrie Spencer, Jan. 36. A social hour follow ed the business session. Mrs. Ruth Hales, of Aloha, who Is a guest at the Penland homjs, and Mrs. Effle Smith were visitors. The hostess serv ed at the close of the meeting. Over The Valley Personals ENTERPRISE MAN HAS BAD INJURIES ENTERPRISE William Wise, who has been working with the gang tear ing up the steel, rails on the old East Oregon Lumber company railroad In the north woods, was Berlously Injured Saturday when a log rolled on him. Several ribs were broken and his body waa torn and crushed. He is still at Camp 10 where medical attention has been given to him. Bank Officiary Kept The Same At Annual Meeting ENTERPRISE Directors of the Wallowa National bank were all re elected at the annual meeting of stockholders heldi Tuesday afternoon, and the officers also remain unchang ed. The directors; are J, A. EggleBon, O. N. Miller, G. 8. Craig, A. M. Pace, W. F. Craig, W. F. Savage, Ok W. Franklin and A. K. Parker. Officers are Mr. Eggleson, president: Mattle A. Holmes, vice president: A. M. Pace, cashier, and W. F. Savage and C. N. Miller, assistant cashiers. The annual report of President Eg gleson showed the marked progress which the bank has made since the close of 1SS2, and continued improve ment Is hoped for. The new federal plan for guarantee of deposits went into effect the first of January and deposits have grown a little, since then, but at no greater rate than they had been growing before, showing that public confidence had been fully re stored last month. The afternoon was spent with conversa tion and sewing and the hostess, with the assistance of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Hayes, served refreshments. The next meeting- will be a pot luck lunch on January as at the home ot Mrs. Sam' Rufckman near Allcel. ' Alice! Aid i ' Mrs. Everett Wallslnger, Mrs. Ralph Wells and Miss Emma McAnlsh en tertained the Allcel Ladles Aid so ciety Thursday at the Wallslnger home with a large attendance of the members. The meeting was called for 1:30 In order that the remain ing relief comforter might be tied out and. this was finished before Mrs. Wallslnger, the president, called the business meeting to order. Comr mlttees for the coming nine months were read. Mrs. I. E. Ohenault had charge of the devotionals, her scripture having to do with the story of the birth of Christ. Mrs. Lama Fuller, playing her own accompaniment, sang "He Knoweth the Way." A clever guessing game was conducted by Mrs. Wells, Miss Margaret Taylor and Mrs. Lura Welts receiving the prizes. The hostesses served a tray lunch late in the aft ernoon. Guests Mr, and Mrs. Franklyn Wells of the Valeria district (entertained a few friends at their home Friday eve ning, having as 'their guests Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wells and daughter, Bob ble, Roy Wells, Henry Paxtoa and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Howell. To Portland Mrs. Helens Lincoln, of the Mill Creek canyon road, Is planning to leave soon for Portland for an ex tended visit. W. O. O. at Corvallls, arrived Friday, having been called home because ot the seri ous illness of his father, W. O. Sher wood.
