FUNERAL TO BE
HELD FRIDAY
Tho funeral of Jack ChrLstotf. who

held Friday morning at the Church

MERCURY UP TO
90 ABOVE HERE
The mercury moved up to 90 above
again yesterday, but did not reach
the maximum of 92 chalked up Tues
day afternoon, although' the ther
mometer registered In the high 80s
early in the day.
This morning's minimum of 64 was
eight degrees cooler than tho mini
mum yesterday. The sky remained
clear and there was no wind.

Leave Hospital
Several patients left the Orando
Ronde hospital today, Mrs. Martha
Williamson, mother of Mrs. John Nled
erer, who underwent a major opera
tion, returned, to her home. Ben
Nelson also returned to the home of
his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ohrls Nel
son In La arande after two weeks
spent at the hospital recovering from
a major ODeratlon. Miss Dorothy Fer
ney, of Durkee, who is a cousin of
Ben Nelson, left the hospital wnere
she was a patient for eight days fol
lowing a major operation.

Rondo hospital for two days receiv
ing medical attention.

Mrs. Herbert Jasper expects to leave

cinct No. 6, voters In that section
will cast their ballots on July 21 at
the Prank Wood residence, north of

a brief meeting of the city commis
sion Wednesday night at the city hall,
Bills for the montn of June,
amounting to a total of a,609.80,
were ordered paid by warrant. The
city manager's report showed cash on
hand at, the end of the week to be
11,222.95, divided as follows: First
National bank of La Grande 3778.08,
Portland bank 10oa,38. cash 723.02,
remainder In warrants.
The commission also granted a 3.2
per cent beer dispenser's license to
W. O. Ayars.

the Grande Ronde hospital Wednes
day. Both babies were girls, and one
died, Wednesday morning.
