Assisting the president during the coming year will be Mrs. Ger trude Maxum as first vlco president; Mrs, Millie Morehead, oecond vlco president; Mrs. Minnie Bragg, secre tary; Mrs. Ardia Palmer, treasurer; and Mrs. Lorene Palmer, historian. ., Mrs. Hazel Oraham, outgoing presi dent, wad elected as one of three members of the executive committee, the others being . Mrs. Christine Nel son and. Mrs., C. N. Palmer. t , The dtate coHventlon of trie iegion and auxiliary will be held in Port land on Sept. 10, preceding the na tional meeting which opens oii Sept. 13 for four days. . Dalegates to the convention were elected last night. They are Mrs. Oraham, Mrs. Eckley and Mrs. Bertha Flanery. Alternates are Mrs. Hazel Wagner, Mrs. Minnie Bragg. arid Mrs. Lorenj Palmer. The meeting will last only one day be cause of the national convention, and all social activities will be eliminated from the program, Mrs. Mabel Mc Inturff, of Portland, seoretary-treaa - iirer, announced recently. Reports of tho officers and committee chairmen will be, in printed form for tho bene fit of tlie delegates and only the nec essary business of the convention will bo transacted. Officers for the com ing year will bo elected and delegates to the national convention named. A brief memorial service, a Pidac doll contest and a music contest will be held, although the latter will be for the purpose of elimination for the national contest., Mrs. . William Kletzer. of Portland, will be in charge of the doll contest. Missionary Group , Is Entertainfed The World'a Sunday school conven tion, which will be held in Rib de Jaiilero on July 25, was the theme of the program which woa enjoyed yesterday afternoon when the Christ Ian Missionary society met, at he home of Mrs. Susan Burnett. . Tho convention will be the first ever to be held south of the equator. A playlet, "Southward Bound;" pre sented by the Misses Ruth McClure, Lois Robertson and Annie , Moore, dealt with the theme, "All Aboard For Rio de Janlero." Miss Dorothy BmuUi ypoke on the subject, "Let's Oo Soil ing Down to Rio de , Janlero," de scribed Buenos Aires and the trip up tho river to Paraguay. t Mrs. A. L. Voela presided . at the business meeting which .was dpeiied by proper presented by Mrs. Harper. Mrs. S. A. Robertson acted as pro gram leader; and Mrs. L. R. Purdy led the devotionals using4 as her topic,, "Horizons of The Soul." Mrs. Rose Edison led in prayer. The meeting was the first of the new year, and was closed by the group singing .the new missionary song, "My Country U the World.'! . Mrs, A. P.
