Two Horseshoe
Champions Give
Exhibition Here
Two leading exponents1 of the
grand old game of horseshoes, arrived
In La Grande today and gave their
first exhibition at 2:30 at the olty
courts back of the municipal build
ing tills afternoon, while the second
will be an event of 7 o'clock this evo
nlng. Ouy L. Zimmerman, of 8aa
City, Iowa, and C. E. Jackson, of Kel
Jerton, Iowa, are reputed to be the
world's beat exhibition horseshoe
pitchers, and will, In addition to giv
ing an exhibition, meet all comers.
r Mr. Jackson was champion of Iowa
and for Illinois for two years each,
and has defeated Putt Mosaman, for
mer world's chamlplon, and Blair
N una maker, present champion. He
holds the record of 87 ringers out of
100 shoes pitched and 30 out of 40.

PORTLAND, July 8 (A7) Thero are
two schools of interests trying to
artificially advance the price of eggs
In face of a trade that appears un
willing to moke such a movement.
The real market for eggs is not
showing the strength previously in
dicated. Instead of the advance that
la being tried by manipulative inter
cuts. There is no change in the sell
ing price of eggs and thero Is no1
shortage of supplies ica though re
ceipts are decreeing.
We are supplying every want ot
the trade at the quotations listed,"
advises Manager Dixon of the Pacific

cattle prices taking an upward trend,
Oregon range and pasture conditions
are reported generally good to excel
lent, according to Information gath

sources by the O. 8. C. extension ser
vice co-operating with the U. a. D.
A. bureau of agricultural economics.
Lower ranges are beginning to
brown but livestock are in excellent
condition. A heavy Increase in grass
fat cattle over the last year io re
ported from Crook county.
Cattle prices at Chicago made
another gain of 26 cents during the
week, although prices at Portland re
mained unchanged.
Hog prices have advanced almost
steadily In the past month and have
now reached a high point for the sea
son at 96.50 In Portland and $6.36 at
Chicago for top quality light butch
